This isn’t to say that you need to strap yourself to the rims of a tepid margarita to see which of the hundreds of tepid cocktails are slurring your best night’s sleep. If you are going to be in a stately city, a few bucks in the pocket may be well spent. In fact, the best hotels in the world have the latest in technology. For a hefty sum, you can get the gander from the likes of a palatable, or better yet, a few slushy cocktails courtesy of the hotel’s slick concierges. Alternatively, you could choose to go it alone, and enjoy a few glasses of wine or cocktails in hand. Or, you could opt for a few sultry nights in the lap of luxury.
And, if you’re in the mood to take a trip down south, a few nights at the Pavilion is a notch above the rest. Moreover, you’re in luck if you happen to be in the vicinity of one of the islands of the caribbean.
jmak villas offer unobstructed views of the volcano, Skaros rock and the sunset
One of the most memorable parts of my honeymoon on Santorini was being able to look out at the volcano, the sun setting and the azure blue sea. What better way to enjoy the view than in a private villa? Villas at Fira have all the amenities of a 5 star hotel while keeping you in the lap of luxury. jmak.com/villas
There is nothing like having your own private plunge pool surrounded by your own private oasis. Several nearby lots offer free parking. This is a smart choice for a couple looking to get away from it all. A large two-bedroom villa with a pool, a jacuzzi and a full kitchen can sleep up to five. The onsite wine tasting is a nice touch.
The best part is that this type of accommodation is a short stroll from the main strip of Oia. Alternatively, you can opt to veer off the beaten path and explore the unspoiled beaches of Thirassia. Lastly, if you’re feeling energetic, you can check out the Akrotiri lighthouse on the coast.
